90% done with Inventures: now, Community Building!
Hi Inventurers!
We’re 90% done making Inventures. We’ve got factory copies back from China (more to come soon on that!) and are working toward a March Kickstarter launch.
We’ve reached that hallowed home stretch, where you can focus entirely on ‘community building’. This blog post gives an inside look into why that’s so important.
Why is community building important?
Launching on Kickstarter isn’t actually the best form of ‘marketing’. The success of your campaign largely depends on the community you bring with you, and early success on the platform (largely from that community).
So you need a built-in audience before your campaign. The eternal question is: how do you build that audience?
The answer, for board game studios, is some combination of:
In-person playtesting and getting signups for email lists 🎲
Social media community building #️⃣
Running ads (largely on Instagram / FB) 🔈
Below is an image I put together of what I’ve learned about community building. Hope you find it interesting!
